Statement of Purpose
Owing to my apparent inclination toward Civil Engineering and construction management since my childhood, I was predetermined to establish a professional identity within this field. India’s unique architecture and monuments sparked my interest in the Civil Engineering field, which certainly goaded me to build a successful career in this field. With this rationale, I am soliciting my application for the Master’s of Science in Construction Management program at your prestigious university, which in my opinion, possesses an immense reputation and excellent infrastructure to support my academic goals. My enthusiasm, along with the potential for innovation and opportunities in Civil Engineering, has led me to pursue a higher degree in this field and contribute to the newly emerging construction technologies through relevant research.

Throughout my academic promenade, I have always maintained a constant learning process to promote persistent up-gradation of my skills. My academic journey has been remarkable, which can be attributed to the overall improvement of my character, confidence, and outlook on life. I scored an overall CGPA of 9.4 in High School and 92.7 percent marks in senior High School. Being drawn towards the excellent infrastructure of my country that has existed for centuries, I decided to explore the fundamentals of civil engineering by opting for a four-year B.tech program in the same area from CVR College of Engineering, Telangana. My undergraduate program was informative as well as challenging. It checked my endurance on all levels, and I learned to cope with high-pressure circumstances and deadlines in real life. Throughout my college life, I aspired to seek innovative opportunities in the Civil Engineering field. This prompted me to partake in a creative thinking program called “Design Thinking.” This led me to think beyond the box in the Civil Engineering Field and aided me to actualize the vastness of the field to drive innovation and expand the beneficial application of Civil engineering. During the second year of my engineering program, I was introduced to two types of curing methods while learning the curing of concrete, accelerated and precast curing methods. This fueled my interest in curing procedures. To further broaden my horizons of intellect, I chose to pursue a research project supported by “NewGen IDC” under the mentorship of my college professor Mr. T. Manoj. However, with the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, my learning process was interrupted, and it became arduous for me to complete the project within the limited time frame. However, I learned to overcome my difficulties and collect adequate information required to accomplish my task. During my research, I scrutinized various curing methods and developed a novel curing method that can reduce the curing duration compared to conventional curing techniques. My endeavors paid off when my peers and mentor complimented my work and encouraged me to pursue higher education in the respective domain.
Besides my academic accomplishments, I have a keen interest in sports and extracurricular activities, and thereby, I proactively participated in various technical and cultural events at school and college. I participated in several sports tournaments during high school, including state-level basketball and chess tournaments. I had always been highly enthusiastic throughout my school life and fetched a medal for my impeccable leadership and social skills. I maintained and constantly upgraded these capabilities and joined an organizing club during my college fest. I also applied for the membership of an organizing committee named “VBIT MUN,” which was supported by a local MUN franchise. I also volunteered for a street cause at a local NGO. Despite making conscious efforts to stay culturally and co-curricular active throughout my college years, I never compromised my academic performance. I managed to score an overall CGPA of 8.45 in my final year of engineering. Now, I am confident enough to be a pool of innovative ideas, thoughts, and questions, which can be materialized into valuable products with an in-depth knowledge of advanced courses. With my current knowledge and skills, I intend to devote myself to something that can help me achieve my long-term goals and give immense profitability.
Eventually, my undergraduate degree entailed me to delve deep into the ocean of knowledge of Civil engineering. As the world is changing, the construction industry is also advancing rapidly to make construction management more sustainable and efficient. In 2018, I visited the United States for a brief holiday. The harmonization and construction activities performed at a building site captivated me. I was highly impressed by the professionalism of the construction workers who carried out their work without causing any inconvenience to the passersby. I believe these practices should be implemented in my home country too. I opted for the USA to pursue my postgraduate degree in Civil engineering owing to its ample resources, quality education, a wide variety of academic research projects, and rapidly evolving construction industry. During the pandemic, my family relocated to the USA, and out of boredom, I started public volunteering to help individuals gain access to essential information regarding Covid-19. Since my classes were being conducted online, I managed to balance my studies and public volunteering. During this time, I developed a keen interest in the Construction Engineering Management subject and comprehended that organizing work and managing time is crucial to the construction industry. As a result, I have opted to pursue my Master’s degree in this field. This keen determination brought me to the portal of Colorado State University, which portrays the program to be highly rigorous and comprehensive. This is exactly what I need to kickstart my career in Civil engineering and equip myself with valuable professional skills. I am applying to your university for its immense reputation and extraordinary amenities. I firmly believe that the rich learning environment under the supervision of your renowned faculty will set me on the right path and help me attain the knowledge which I need to achieve my future goals of working as a Construction Management Engineer.
