The choice of career-driven by many factors; hence the final decision must be unique and complement the objectives. Among all the factors, the motivating ones are highly essential as it leads to better progression and ultimate satisfaction. I wish to enjoy doing my work and look for every opportunity for advancement, so it helps me shape my career in the way I prefer. Besides this the career choice and job satisfaction are correlated, therefore with a strong mind and urge to learn new things, I find the right ways to choose my career. On the other hand, being a leader is all about influencing your colleagues, leading from the front, and keeping a strict eye on productivity and revenue. So with the freedom to do things my way, I think I can motivate the employees, get them engaged to devote their 100% and ultimately generate huge profit for the company.

The content theories have impacted my contemplation on leadership by and large. It often taught me the ways people often get motivated. It also explained the changing behaviours through effective motivation along with necessary requirements to influence them. As employees look for different factors to get motivated as a leader, I followed different theories and took time to determine their preferences. Among all the content motivation theories, I prefer McClelland’s Human Motivation Theory, which describes that every individual follows three crucial driving motivators: the necessity for achievement, affiliation, and power (Kukreja, nd). All these aspects develop inherently through experiences. The theory motivated me to resolve crucial issues and meet my objectives effectively. McClelland’s Human Motivation Theory is also instrumental in motivating a team to work efficiently to meet business objectives and structuring the essential role in a team. Motivation is all about the surplus energy and eagerness to work in a planned way and attain the desired objectives. The motivation theory is like wonder; it offers an in-depth insight into the behaviour and mentalities of the individuals. My motivation theory is unquestionably Hertzberg’s two-factor theory, where there are primarily two factors such as hygiene factors and motivating factors. The hygiene factors reveal the dissatisfaction of the employees, whereas motivational factors are the guiding principles for employee satisfaction and employee performance. It is also known as Two Factor theory. I intend to work on the factors for employee satisfaction such as accomplishment, appreciation, development and growth, and dissatisfaction such as work environment, salary, job security, and company policies. As a manager, only eliminating the dissatisfaction factors are not enough to satisfy the employees. Hence I would like to work on the satisfaction factors like accomplishment, appreciation and giving more responsibility to the employees and generate a sense of trust (Sinha, nd). These things will transform the scenario of the working environment and motivate the employees for better performance. Job satisfaction is the measure of contentment and motivation of the employees towards their work. However, it depends on the career field you choose and the working environment. As an individual, it is necessary to go for a career that excites him, allow him to do experiments and take innovative approaches. The assessment also highlights different motivation theories applicable to both the employees and leaders and provides a key insight to those budding leaders before hitting the field. I will consider the motivation while working further and take the motivation theories granted to become a leader and motivate the employees for enhancing productivity and employee engagement using the right tools and strategies (Content Theories of Motivation, nd). I learned about the practicality of the situation that commenced in a working environment and got a better insight on how a proper career selection is necessary for attaining job satisfaction. Moreover, it also helped me recognize that only the perks and eye-catching policies are not enough to satisfy; a right thrust is highly necessary to propel and reach the new height. With self-reflection, I came across that most people have the expertise, but they are not working to their right potential due to the dearth of motivation. Therefore, this is what surprised me to the core and I wish to keep an open perception on the employees natures and make every effort to access their requirements to give the right impulse at the right time. Even I want to set an example for my subordinates so that they can believe in their potential and growth in the long run.
